New LinkedIn Maps app to visualise and explore all your connections in one big interactive map

{EAV_BLOG_VER:601546f742495f3d}

I have been called (and pardon my French) a LinkedIn 'whore' before by a very good friend and I always denied it but now that I have visual proof I can't really any longer!

Check out my network map below and the new LinkedIn Maps application that visualises and lets you explore all your connections in one big interactive colour coded map (and connect to me and help me grow my map :)

Apart from being pretty cool, this is also an amazing tool to find out how well connected some of your friends and colleagues are and in what circles (i.e. colours) they move (job titles can sometimes be deceiving but the people you know and connect with not so much).

LinkedIn adds analytics on traffic, followers and visitor profiles to its company profile service

LinkedIn launched its company profile pages a while ago but it seems they also recently added page statistics to the service.

As you can see from the below Datalicious LinkedIn page stats, you can get fairly standard reports on overall traffic to your site and its sub sections as well as number of followers but also a breakdown of your page visitors by industries, job functions and company name which I find most interesting of all.

And by now you've probably noticed that our follower numbers are well behind the industry avery so help us out here and follow us on LinkedIn guys!

New LinkedIn DirectAds platform provides amazing ad targeting opportunities for B2B marketers

Screen_shot_2010-12-08_at_1

Most of you probably already know that LinkedIn now offers an advertising platform called Direct Ads similar to Google Ad Words and Facebook Advertising but I just launched a test campaign for Datalicious and was impressed by the targeting options the LinkedIn ads offer for B2B marketing.

LinkedIn not only allows you to target your ads by gender, age and geography but also company size, job function, industry and seniority (see below). From a B2B lead generation perspective these kind of targeting options seem amazing, however I cannot comment on ad effectiveness yet.

From what I can read online so far, people seem to think Linkedin ads are too expensive and not providing enough value for money but I'll give it a try anyway. If you have any comments or experience with LinkedIn ads please let me know, would love to hear your stories.

Gigya info-graphic on the different social network identities people are using to sign-in online

The guys at Gigya created a great info-graphic showing what accounts and online identities people are using to sign-in online.

The most popular social identities are Facebook, Google, Yahoo, and Twitter, but popularity differs by user segments and website categories. Users are most likely to log on to entertainment sites via Facebook, but Twitter for news sites, etc.

Given the data that is available to companies if their users subscribe using one of their social online identities you wonder why there's still normal subscription processes being used, especially as the social identities probably have better data quality anyway (i.e. you want Facebook to have your real/main email address).

Flowtown identifies social profiles, demographics and influencers from customers email addresses

Screen_shot_2010-06-19_at_7

I just came across this new service called Flowtown which is pretty interesting.

The platform lets you upload your contact's email addresses for which it then returns the respective social profiles on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Flickr and StumleUpon. And if all you have is an email address, the service can also give you a name, age, gender, occupation and location. But the best part is the integration with Klout, a service that determines a person's influence level based on Twitter and basically identifies your most influential contacts for you.

Have a look at the below chart, which shows the statistics for all my 1,800 contacts compared to the 50 identified influencers. Not surprisingly, but still interesting to see is that the influencers are definitely much more likely to have a social profile online across multiple networks and that all Twitter influencers also have a Facebook and LinkedIn account.
